Reds Scholarship Program
The QR Reds are committed through their QAS Reds Academy and Super 14 programs to promote on and off field achievement ensuring players set themselves up for a career outside of rugby.
In addition to this, the Reds have developed partnerships with important program sponsors to assist in the delivery of the Reds Rugby Scholarship Program. The program will provide a special opportunity for a select group of young players who we believe have the potential to play Rugby at the highest level.
Player Selection:
The Reds Rugby Performance Department including the QR Reds Head and Assistant Coaches will identify and select players for the scholarship program that they believe possess outstanding attributes and potential to one day become a contracted Reds player.
Player Benefits:
Players may be identified at a school or club level and will be invited to join this elite program where they will receive the following:
• A Cash contribution / incentive
• Inclusion in the highest level Rugby development program such as the National Talent Squad
• Invitation to attend and participate in a number of Reds training sessions
• Receive some QR Reds gear and sponsor polo shirt
• Attend selected QR Reds home games during the Super 14 with parents
• Mentoring from existing QR Reds coaches, players and Vintage Reds
Player Obligations:
Players selected for the scholarship program will need to:
• Consistently perform on and off the field in line with the high standards and expectations of Qld Rugby and the Reds
• Train to the best of their ability in the high level development program provided
• Remain grounded throughout their time as a scholarship holder and lead by example
• Promote their involvement in the Reds Scholarship Program including through various sponsor obligations
