2010 Academy Profiles
Players with the potential to represent at the highest level of Rugby are selected by the QR Reds Succession Plan Group including the QAS Reds Academy Head Coach in line with the Reds succession plan.
Each year between 12-20 players are selected depending on appropriate players and program capacities. Ideal coach to athlete ratios for performance development is 1:10. By utilising Reds coaching staff and other external coaches (eg Premier Club Rugby coaches, QAS coaches) the QAS Reds Academy can achieve such targets.
Selected players are provided with standard Australian Rugby Union Academy players' contracts as per the Rugby Union Players Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. Players are also awarded QAS Scholarships allowing them to be part of a distinguished group of Queensland athletes.
