If 2018 was anything to go by, 2019 is shaping as an exciting year for Jordan Petaia. At just 18 years and 24 days, Petaia became the youngest-ever Super Rugby debutant when came off the bench for the St.George Queensland Reds in Round 8 against the Brumbies, before going on to play 11 Super Rugby games in 2018. The teenager made his NRC debut for Bond University Queensland Country in Round 1 against the Canberra Vikings and finished the season as the competition’s top try-scorer after crossing for his 10 try during the 2018 Grand Final against the Fijian Drua. He joined the St.George Queensland Reds for pre-season training ahead of the 2018 Super Rugby season while still only 17 years old. So impressed were the coaches with his input at training, the teenager was given his first opportunity in the Reds’ intra-squad trial match in early February. At 190cm and 98kg, Jordan is an imposing figure in any backline, while his speed, physicality and skill at such a young age bode well for the future.
