After a blistering season in the 2017 National Rugby Championship, Filipo Daugunu showed Reds fans his true potential in 2018 after debuting for Queensland in Round 1 against the Rebels in Melbourne. The Fijian flyer used the 2018 Super Rugby season as his own personal highlights reel – scoring a total of 37 points including six tries. Daugunu moved to Australia ahead of the 2017 Queensland Premier Rugby season to chase his dream of earning a professional Rugby contract. His standout performances as one of Wests’ outside backs, helped them to their first finals appearance since 2007 and earned him a call up to Bond University Queensland Country - where he thrived as the competition’s leading try scorer, notching 13 tries in eight appearances, including a hat-trick in their grand final win over the Canberra Vikings. His irresistible form in the NRC was rewarded with a Reds contract for the 2018 Super Rugby season.
