Volvo QRFSU U18 Regional State Championships kickoff tomorrow

The Volvo QRFSU U18 Regional State Championships kickoff tomorrow at Albert Park on the Gold Coast with schoolboy talent from 10 regions across Queensland competing for a place in the Combined Secondary Schools (CSS) squad.

The Regional State Championships running over the next four days acts as a pathway for talented players from non-traditional rugby schools to reach further representative honours, giving them the opportunity to be noticed by selectors.

The event is split into two pools of five teams that will compete through Thursday and Friday, before cross pool matches commence on Saturday and both a selection final and shield final are played on Sunday.

The four-day event will determine the CSS squad that will compete against Associated Independent Colleges (AIC) and Greater Public Schools (GPS) at the Queensland Schoolboy trials at Ballymore from June 21-June 24.

Following the schoolboy trials, two Queensland Schoolboy teams will be selected to compete at the U18 ASRU National Championships from July 2- 8 at St Ignatius College in Sydney.

The final CSS squad will be announced at a post-match ceremony on Sunday.
