Queensland XV and Canada impress despite wet conditions

A representative Queensland XV and World Cup bound Canada battled heavy rain to produce plenty of exciting Rugby during their opposed training session at Ballymore on Tuesday night.

The Canadians showed their class throughout the 80 minute session and are now primed for their World Cup campaign in New Zealand, beginning on September 14 against Tonga.

St.George Queensland Reds backrower Jake Schatz lead the Queensland XV group and was one of a number of players who impressed despite the wet and windy conditions.

The Queensland XV had moments of attacking brilliance and was guided well by flyhalf Dallan Murphy, while Schatz and lock David McDuling stood up against the large Canadian forward pack.

The Queensland XV was headed by Premier Rugby coaches Pat Richards (Easts) and Matt Pini (GPS).

Canada is a member of Pool A in the World Cup and will compete against New Zealand, France, Japan and Tonga during the pool stages.
