ST.GEORGE BANK TO PARTNER WITH THE BRISBANE HUSTLERS, QUEENSLAND’S LGBTQI ALL INCLUSIVE RUGBY TEAM

In a commitment to inclusion and diversity St.George Bank has partnered with the Brisbane Hustlers, Queensland's LGBTQI and all-inclusive rugby union team.

Inclusion for all is the message The Brisbane Hustlers and St.George Bank are hoping to bring to the forefront for IDAHOT Day, as St.George begins their partnership.

Ross Miller, General Manager for St.George Bank said that as Queensland’s representative LGBTQI rugby team The Hustlers demonstrate leadership when it comes to inclusion and commitment to change.

“We currently support three codes of sport across Australia, and we are very proud to partner with another organisation that shares the same common goals of inclusiveness, community, family and a love of sport.”

“Our partnership with the Queensland Rugby Union has enabled us to work closer together to help more Queenslanders realise their love of the sport and be involved in the community game.”

“Partnering with The Hustlers is very much an extension of that – anyone should be able to participate in rugby and we believe this is a partnership that will help more Queenslanders do just that. “ The Brisbane Hustlers obtained a number two world ranking at the 2014 Bingham Cup, a competition named in memory of 9/11 hero and rugby player Mark Bingham, who was instrumental in establishing two of our leading gay rugby clubs.

The Hustlers will again participate in the in the Bingham Cup in Amsterdam in June this year.

Jason Garrick, Vice President of the Brisbane Hustlers said: “Our partnership with St. George is a significant support of inclusiveness for our code and a demonstration that strategic partnerships can be valuable when there are shared values and respect.”

The Brisbane Hustlers were 2017 Champions of the Purchas Cup, the annual Australasian Gay Rugby Championship which will be hosted in Brisbane in 2019.
