2019 Gold Coast Cyclones Coaching and Management Postions

Gold Coast District Rugby Union (GCDRU) are looking for Under 17 Cyclones coaching and management positions for 2019.

It is intended that the team will travel to Japan over the period 30th September to 4 October 2019 to participate in the World Youth Rugby Invitational in Fukuoka Japan.

GCDRU is seeking individuals that have serious passion and drive for developing players in the game of rugby union.

The following key indicators to fulfil the role:

  • Minimum Level 2 Coaching Accreditation.
  • Current Smart Rugby accreditation.
  • Outstanding and proven ability to lead.
  • Expert and proven coaching knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the components that contribute to high performance rugby.
  • Excellent people and communication skills.
  • Availability for the program from September 2018 till October 2019.

Queensland Premier Rugby / Grassroots Rugby volunteer roles

Opportunities for work experience have become available in the Queensland Rugby Union Media Department, assisting with the coverage and promotion of Queensland Premier Rugby and other grassroots competitions.

We are seeking a number of highly motivated, multi-skilled individuals who are available for one to two days a week, to work with the QRU Media Department, as well as assist our Queensland Premier Rugby clubs.

It is preferable for the applicant to have relevant experience in/be currently studying in the fields outlined below. An understanding of and passion for Rugby is desirable.

While roles will be focused on the delivery of our Premier Rugby strategy, successful applicants will also assist in the coverage of programs including women’s Rugby, schoolboy Rugby, Country Rugby and other areas of Queensland Rugby’s remit.

Game day assistance for St.George Queensland Reds home games will also form part of the role.

Roles we’re searching for include:

Written content creators

General daily tasks will include:

  • Assist with the production of media releases, web stories, match reports and feature articles relevant to different aspects of Queensland Rugby.
  • Assist to produce written content for individual Premier Rugby clubs upon request.
  • Assist with management of Queensland Rugby’s different social media accounts.
  • Assist to deliver the communication strategy around Queensland Premier Rugby.

Applicants for this position should have completed or currently be studying within the fields of journalism, communications or public relations.

Digital content creators

General daily tasks will include:

  • Assist with the production of photo/video content relevant to different aspects of Queensland Rugby.
  • Assist to photo/video content for individual Premier Rugby clubs upon request.
  • Assist to deliver the communication strategy around Queensland Premier Rugby.
  • The ability to handle basic graphic design work would also be desirable.

Applicants for this role should see themselves as aspiring photographers or videographers, tertiary study in multimedia is desirable but not a necessity, your portfolio or examples of prior work should be sent in with your application.

Premier Rugby broadcast commentators

We’re searching for talent to introduce to our Queensland Premier Rugby commentary team in 2018.

The Queensland Premier Rugby live stream will incorporate all four matches in 2018, with the Game of the Round hosted as a full production with live commentary.

Commentators should be well versed in Rugby and a knowledge of Premier Rugby and its history and position within Queensland Rugby Union is desirable.

Play-by-play commentator

The ‘play-by-play’ commentator’s role is to call the action as it happens, there will be other ‘colour’ commentators who will provide opinion and analysis, the main focus of the ‘play-by-play’ commentator is calling each play as it happens. A knowledge of Rugby ‘terminology’ and the laws of the game is desirable.

Colour commentator

The role of the colour commentator is to provide expert insight into the game, the players and the Premier Rugby competition. This role is ideal for former clubs players who still have an interest and want to stay involved, and have always been interested in trying their hand at commentary.

Queensland Rugby is a fast-paced working environment and offers a 'real world' work experience. We are located in Herston in Brisbane’s inner-north.
