The 2012 Graincorp Queensland Country Championships has maintained the format utilised in the 2011 season.

The Championships are contested by the three different zones that make up Queensland Country Rugby Union, the breakdown of the zones is:

The sub-unions in each zone will play off against each other in a round robin format.
From these matches each zone will then select a representative team to compete in the Country Championships.
The Country Championships itself will consist of a round robin tournament between the three zones with the winning zone being declared the Country Champions.
